In the preferences of the Popular Jury “Stiratore di luce” obtained a total of 35 votes. It preceded “L’oro è giallo” (Hacca, 2023) by Benedetta Fallucchi credited with 28 votes. In third place with 24 votes “L’ombra del vulcano” (Einaudi, 2023) by Marco Rossari, followed in fourth place with equal merit with 19 votes by “La verità e la biro” (Einaudi, 2023) by Tiziano Scarpa, and by “Le streghe non esiste” (Bompiani, 2023) by Luca Scarlini.

This is the verdict communicated on the evening of Saturday 27 April in the splendid setting of Teatro alle Grazie, live, in front of a large audience who was able to listen again to the writers known through the pages of their books, and presented in the month of March in Tiraboschi Library by Giacomo Raccis (all re-watchable on the Prize website and on YouTube).

“Our most sincere applause goes to Franco Stelzer who was able to give us and – we are sure – to all the readers who have read it or will read it, emotions through the inked pages of his volume. But our thanks, in addition to the organizers and the jury of the Prize, also go to the series director Dario Voltolini who wanted it in Pennisole” comment Beatrice Merz and Silvano Bertalot, respectively publisher and editorial director of hopefulmonster.

“Great joy for an exquisite writer who composed a pearl that we were lucky enough to host on our Pennisole!” concludes Dario Voltolini.

  • Did you know that?

A work by the Chilean artist Alfredo Jaar is exhibited at the offices of the publishing house hopefulmonster editore, in via Stampatori 4, at Palazzo Scaglia di Verrua in Turin.

✨In the work “M’illumino d’immenso” light and word are strongly correlated. The artist takes up the shortest poem by Ungaretti, written on a day in January 1917, in times of war, in Santa Maria la Longa, creating a work that recalls the white light of the morning and that at the same time transmits a feeling of infinity. Poetry that saves, against the backdrop of war, which faces a desperate actuality in search of a reversal.
“The art of resistance”, this is how Jaar defines his research, which began in Chile at the time of Pinochet’s dictatorship and continued in New York. Some of his dearest themes are precisely art as radical change, in addition to political action and dialogue with the great thinkers of the history, in a constant reflection on the relationship between past and present, under the melancholic effigy of the revolutionary mythology.
