Balkenhol sculptures a wooden trunk with incisive style and strengh into a female, male or animal figure. He comunicates the immediateness of every day images, unifing the immediatness of sculpture with the rationality and sobriety of the minimalist tradition. The artist combines different contemporary art tendencies. The catalogue is pubblished in occasion of the exhibition from 28 may to 29 agoust 1999 at the Galleria Civica di Arte Contemporanea of Trento. Besides essays by Vittoria Coen, curator of the exhibition, and Martin Mertens, the catalogue includes the complete documentation of the exhibition and a rich iconographic recognition of the artist's activity, whose artworks confirm men's central position through an ironic interpretation of human condition.
